Here are a few simple tips to keep your pearls beautiful for years:

• Wear them often. Pearls love the natural oils from your skin—it helps keep their luster alive.

• Last on, first off. Always put your pearls on after applying perfume, hairspray, or lotion, and remove them before getting undressed.

• Wipe after each wear. Use a soft, clean cloth to gently remove any oils or residue. This keeps the surface smooth and glowing.

• Keep them separate. Store your pearls in a soft pouch or jewelry box, away from metal or gemstones that might scratch them.

• Avoid water and chemicals. Take them off before showering, swimming, or cleaning—pearls don’t like soap, chlorine, or heat.

• Restring occasionally. If you wear your pearls often, have them restrung every year or so to keep the silk thread strong and secure.
